We are building a new house in the country. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are one open area. Which flooring product would be the best for this area. The laundry room is through a door off of the dining room and will probably have a tile floor. This is a second home.

I've read that cork density matters, but it's hard to find the density of some cork flooring...and when I do find the technical info is in either metric, standard, or a value that doesn't seem right. It's hard to compare apples to apples. I wish I could find a comparison chart on the different brands of floating cork flooring.

I've heard of brands: Wicanders (100 and 1000 series), Vallerex from Expanko, Naturals, APC, DaVinci, Jelinex, QU-Cork, and Envirocork....but I don't know which of those is best. Well, I know Wicanders 1000 is better than it's 100, but that's all I know. Are there better ones to know?

Also, I've read to NOT get the kind manufactured in China due to quality assurance problems.

We plan to coat with 4 coats of poly, so the factory finish (rather acrylic or poly) is probably not a big issue. At least that's my guess.

Any thoughts from people who know more than me (that should be a lot of folks) is greatly appreciated.
