We've re-done our entire bathroom and are about to install a bathtub hand rail safety grip which is maybe around 30cm long. The bathtub runs along a tiled wall, and we've pretty much decided that the grip should go lengthwise horizontally above the bathtub - and centred along the length of the bathtub - but my question is How High Above The Bath?

Our plumber suggested omitting it because they can be unattractive and are more suited to elderly people, but this one has a simple contemporary design and should look OK as long as it seems close to the bathtub and not smack in the middle of the wall.

He also suggested installing it at an angle, but although that might be good in terms of safety, I think it would stand out too much.

Mostly I'm looking for opinions which agree with the horizontal centred placement but which could help me decide on the height, but all suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

How Do Remodel a Powder Room to Reflect a More Modern Style on a Budget?

Hey Everyone!

I recently purchased my first home and I am looking to add a little personality to my bathroom. I am in love with the contemporary / modern style of decor and this powder room most definitely is not any of that. Here is what we got stock: http://i41.tinypic.com/1zfingg.jpg

I'm looking to maybe add some color and tile? I don't know what would help. I hate the pedestal sink, mirror and fixture. I'm just trying to do something that reflects upon my style. I am a fan of blues, purples, and red. Trying to get away from the "all beige" that is plaguing the house currently.

Can anyone suggest to me some ideas of how to make it more modern? Would a chair rail of tile from the rail down to the floor make it look better? Wall paper? Colors? I'm at a loss!

All I know is that I hate this stupid bathroom. Thank you!
